Poker Chips
Today poker is a game that has gained international appeal. People of all ages
and nationalities are coming together to play a fun game of cards. No longer
is poker a game that is reserved for back rooms, or casinos. You’ll find
a host of poker fans playing games like Texas Holdem
in the comfort of their own home. There are a number of products easily available
for those getting into the wonderful world of home poker parties. When you purchase
a set of poker chips and other accessories,
your friends will think they are in a real casino.
Poker chip sets come in varied styles, colors
and price points, and will enhance the enjoyment of the game. Different poker
chips mark a player’s style and sense of art. Since the choices are wide,
most customers are turning to some of the on-line sites that specialize in poker
supplies. Those companies have done the leg work for you and have gathered a
collection of some of the top-quality and best values in poker chips and other
accessories.
Which chip is right for you?
Before ordering a set, it’s wise to do a little homework. The
first thing you will need to decide is what type of chip will work best for
you. The most popular chips are either Casino Style or Real Clay. Casino
chips are made using clay composite and resemble the ones used in casinos,
but cost less. Real clay poker chips are
the actual chips used in casinos and are considered the prime chip available.
No matter which type you decide to purchase, make sure that you’re not
getting "seconds." If the price is too good to believe, there’s
probably a reason. Seconds often won’t stack properly, have visible seams
or faded colors.
Chips also come in a variety of weights. The most popular weight is 11.5 grams; most players believe they feel the best in the hand. The next most popular weight is 8 grams.
Sets are available in 300, 500, and 650 chip quantities in your choice of
aluminum, wood, and vinyl cases. The number
of chips that you need depends on the average number of players. If you will
generally play with three to four players, then make sure you have at least
300 chips. When four to five players participate, you’ll need 500 and
with five or six people, it is wise to have at least 650 chips on hand. What pattern do you prefer?
Once you determine which type of chip will work for you, it’s
time to decide what style of chip you prefer. They come with patterns including
suited, dice, striped or specialty. Some
manufacturers can even create print customized patterns on your chips, such
as a logo. Poker fans love to have their initials stamped into a set of chips,
which would make a perfect gift for your friends
or family members who love the game.
Values
There is no rule that says what values can be assigned to each color of poker chips. Remember that the lower valued chips are used most often. In most circles, white chips are assigned the lowest value, which is usually $1. Blue chips are valued at $5; red at $10; green at $25 and black chips at $100.
With your own set of poker chips, you can have years of playing enjoyment, right in your home. So, order a set, invite your friends and let the fun begin.
